Frequently Asked Questions

How are shampoo bars different from liquid shampoo?

Shampoo bars deliver the same cleansing and conditioning benefits as liquid shampoo but in a concentrated, waterless format. Because they're not diluted with water, a single bar typically lasts significantly longer than a bottle of liquid shampoo. They're also travel-friendly, packaging-free, and formulated without the sulfates and synthetic thickeners often found in conventional liquid shampoos. Our bars lather up richly with just a little water and rinse clean without leaving residue.

Is there a transition period when switching to a shampoo bar?

Some people experience a brief transition period of one to three weeks when switching from conventional liquid shampoo to a natural shampoo bar. This happens because conventional shampoos often strip the scalp of its natural oils, causing it to overproduce sebum over time. As your scalp rebalances, you may notice your hair feeling different than usual. Sticking with it pays off — most people find their hair settles into a healthier, more balanced state once the transition is complete. Using a conditioner or a diluted apple cider vinegar rinse during this period can help speed things along.

Are your hair care products safe for color-treated hair?

Our natural shampoo bars are sulfate-free, which makes them gentler on color-treated hair than many conventional shampoos. Sulfates are a common culprit in premature color fading, so switching to a sulfate-free bar can actually help your color last longer. That said, we always recommend checking the full ingredient list for any product if you have specific concerns about color preservation, and doing a patch test if you're trying something new.

Do your products work for all hair types?

We have options across the hair type spectrum. Each product page notes which hair types it works best for. If you have very fine, very coarse, or highly textured hair and aren't sure where to start, feel free to reach out and we'll point you in the right direction.

How do I use a shampoo bar correctly?

Wet your hair thoroughly, then either rub the bar directly onto your scalp in circular motions or lather it between your hands first and apply the lather to your hair. Massage into the scalp, work through the lengths, and rinse thoroughly. For best results, follow with your preferred conditioner. Between uses, store your shampoo bar on a well-draining soap dish so it can dry out fully and last as long as possible.

Do you offer conditioner bars or other complementary hair care products?

We do not offer conditioner bars. In addition to shampoo bars, our natural hair care collection includes scalp treatments, hair masks and hair rinses to round out your routine. Using a conditioner after your shampoo bar helps smooth the hair cuticle and adds moisture, which is especially helpful during the transition period or for drier hair types. Each product in the collection is designed to work together as a complete hair care system.
